Chateau Chasse-Spleen 2008 is one of the Médoc's icons and comes from the renowned estate in Moulis-en-Médoc. This vintage impresses with its tranquility, depth, and fine ripeness, reflected in the terroir-inherent minerality. The house's distinctive feature lies in a consistent balance between fruit and elegance, which gains complexity over the years. The clay and gravel soils lend the wine a subtle saline note, while cassis and plum aromas are carried by smoky and graphite nuances. Critics such as Falstaff, Parker, Jancis Robinson, Jeff Leve, and Wine Spectator praise the consistent quality, aging potential, and clear typicity of this wine.

At tasting, the wine presents a ruby red with a garnet sheen and captivates with an intense aroma of dark fruits, graphite, smoke, and subtle tobacco notes. On the palate, it is full and harmonious, with silky tannins, fine acidity, and a long, elegant finish. The complexity is enhanced by subtle oak notes that blend skillfully with the fruit and minerality. Food pairing suggestion: Grilled ribeye or beef fillet, lamb chops, mushroom risotto, or aged cheese – these combinations underscore the structure and flavor of the Château Chasse-Spleen 2008.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
