Château L'Evangile 2000 [Magnum] is among the most classic icons of Pomerol. The estate boasts a Merlot-dominated blend that combines finesse, density, and ripeness in a rarely balanced profile. The 2000 vintage is considered one of the defining years of Bordeaux, in which fruit, terroir, and ripeness seem to merge seamlessly. The magnum format slows down the aging process and preserves complexity for years to come. Critics such as Falstaff, Parker, Jancis Robinson, Jeff Leve, and Wine Spectator emphasize the subtle power and enduring potential of this wine. On the palate, it displays a deep ruby-red color with garnet hues. The bouquet opens with ripe blackcurrants, plums, and dried fruits, accompanied by delicate notes of truffle, tobacco, and graphite. On the palate, it presents a silky texture, velvety tannins, well-integrated oak, and concentrated fruit supported by a mineral tension. The finish is long and elegant, leaving a noticeable, lingering depth. Food pairing recommendation: Delicate lamb dishes, roast beef, or a mushroom risotto allow the wine to fully develop its character. Serve at around 17–18°C; ideally, allow it to breathe briefly before the first sip. This wine is perfect for special occasions, transforming its clear, mature aromas into a memorable dining experience. The magnum format also makes it an ideal companion for festive gatherings.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
