Comm. G.B. Burlotto Barolo Cannubi DOCG 2020 combines the traditional signature of one of the most renowned houses in the Barolo region with the Cannubi district, one of the historic terroirs for Nebbiolo. The 2020 vintage displays power paired with ethereal elegance, a characteristic that has distinguished Burlotto for decades: fine fruit, mineral depth, and a nuanced tannin structure. Cannubi represents complexity and longevity—a hallmark of the winery, which is known for its careful, artisanal approach and wine philosophy. Critics such as Falstaff, Robert Parker, Jancis Robinson, Jeff Leve, and Wine Spectator praise Burlotto's Cannubi for its elegant balance between fruit, terroir, and structure.

Tasting Note: The nose opens with complex aromas of ripe red fruits, roses, and violets, supported by tar and graphite nuances and a hint of mineral freshness. On the palate, the wine displays a silky yet structured texture: fine tannins, lively acidity, and an attractive balance between fruit and soil character. The finish is long, elegant, and complex, with a light spiciness that hints at further aging potential.

Approximate drinking maturity: The 2020 Cannubi will begin its maturation phase in the coming years and, with proper storage, offers great development potential; a realistic optimal period is expected to be between 2026 and 2038. Food pairing suggestion: Accompanied by creamy risotto with truffles, pan-fried filet mignon with mushrooms, or braised lamb with wild herbs, the delicate fruit, smoky notes, and mineral structure unfold particularly harmoniously.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
