The Georg Breuer Rudesheimer Berg Schlossberg Riesling 2021 presents itself as an impressive testament to the Rheingau terroir. From the legendary single vineyard site Berg Schlossberg, characterized by slate soil and a southeast exposure, this wine emerges with distinctive precision. The Georg Breuer winery, renowned for generations for its elegant Rieslings, combines traditional craftsmanship with modern style. The 2021 vintage displays a balance of freshness, structure, and minerality that reflects the ripening potential of this vineyard. This vintage unites freshness, depth, and pronounced minerality, making the wine approachable yet poised to develop further into more complex wines. Critics such as Falstaff, Parker, Jancis Robinson, Jeff Leve, and Wine Spectator praise its authenticity and see in the 2021 vintage a combination of clarity and aging potential that continues the tradition of Schlossberg Rieslings.

Tasting note: In the glass, the wine shines straw yellow with green highlights. The nose is enticing with green apple, peach blossom, citrus notes, and fine slate minerality. On the palate, it is precise, with lively acidity, concentrated fruit, and an elegant saline note; the finish is long and fresh with a lingering structure. Drinking window: Optimal drinking window expected from approximately 2024 to 2040, with aging potential beyond that. Food pairing: Ideal with grilled seafood, steamed scallops, mildly spicy Asian dishes, or mature cheeses such as Comté.

LIFE BEFORE...

Where possible, and especially with larger wine cellar purchases, the wine cellars of the previous owners tell us a lot about the storage conditions of the wines. A professionally managed wine cellar usually guarantees perfect storage conditions for the wines. We acquire our wines exclusively from reputable, mostly private wine collectors.

HIDDEN FEATURES

Many high-quality wines today feature various security features for authentication, such as markings that only become visible under UV light. We check and compare all purchased wines for these features using an extensive database, and if there is even the slightest doubt, we reject the wine.

THE DETAILS MATTER

We examine wine labels under a microscope to determine their quality, and we check the printed image for any peculiarities that are typical for a particular winery, wine, or vintage. We draw on a large image database to identify any anomalies.

COLOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Last but not least, we also examine the wine's composition. Color, turbidity, sediment, and the bubbles in a champagne reveal a lot about the wine's or champagne's condition and potential drinking pleasure.
